We are now starting construction of a junior secondary school for orphans and vulnerable children in Korogocho. Students will return to school on April 25th.
Kenya's new education curriculum which is the Competency-based curriculum or CBC outlines for 6 years of primary schooling (Grades 1-6), 3 years for junior schooling (Grades 7-9) and also senior schooling. After graduating from primary schooling, it is currently up to the children to join junior schooling or not. However, there is only 3 government schools in Korogocho and the surrounding areas meaning that these three schools must cater for over 100,000 students. As a result of the limited space, many students are forced to drop out.
Grapesyard has planned to construct a 4 story building that will host classrooms, science labs, one large dining hall, staffroom and offices, and also a floor dedicated as a medical clinic. The current status in this project is that space was bought for the building, the houses inside that area was demolished, and the foundation for the building is in progress. However, a challenge is that there is a shortage of funds so please donate to help out.

Future plans are to cast the foundation slabs, build the walls for the building and to have the first floor ready for Grade 6 when they come in January of 2023.
